Considered the heart of the Casa da Música, the Sala Suggia – named in honor of the Porto cellist Guilhermina Suggia, a world exponent of the instrument in the first half of the 20th century – serves as an anchor for the entire building, allowing the main Routes to trace along its route.Return. With seven windows that connect it both with the outside and with other spaces, providing different viewing angles, it is one of the few concert halls where music can be played exclusively with natural light.

Special attention deserves the decorative arts and fundamental periods in the History of Western Music in the Sala Suggia, where examples such as the gilded carvings or the pipe organs stand out. Such evocations coexist and dialogue with a set of undisguisedly contemporary elements, including the canopy, the royal room and the maintenance bridge.
