Sigur Rós has just announced two major concerts in Portugal. The Icelandic band will perform on September 13 at the Coliseu Porto AGEAS and on September 17 at the Sagres Campo Pequeno, accompanied by the Lisbon Sinfonietta Orchestra and the Ricercare Choir.
The Lisbon and Porto concerts are part of a unique world tour, in which Sigur Rós will perform with local orchestras, playing songs from their latest album, ÁTTA, and revisiting some of the most memorable moments of their career. The program also includes songs from Takk…, one of the band's most beloved albums, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.
Pianist Kjartan Sveinsson comments: “We are very excited to be returning to live concerts with orchestras in September. It is always very special to be in the middle of an orchestra, surrounded by so many fantastic musicians with whom we have played over the past four years.”
