The Kooks have just announced their European tour, with a concert scheduled for March 6, 2026, in Sagres Campo Pequeno. The band is now releasing their latest album, 'Never/Know'.
After 18 years of career, The Kooks decided the only way forward was to stop "papering over cracks" and truly renew the band. Looking back at their history—lineup changes, ego struggles, and sound shifts—only the foundation and essence of the project remained, which Hugh Harris describes as "a shared vision of bringing joy and love through well-performed and well-written music. It's simple, almost childlike."
After this analysis of who they are and what they want to do, the solution was to recapture the spirit of their debut album, not in the sound, but in the energy and atmosphere. During the creation of their seventh album, Never/Know, Luke Pritchard kept the process secret, making the musicians believe they were only recording demos. Thus, they captured the band in a state of "total and utter relaxation," as Harris describes it, with room for experimentation, fun, and a touch of disorder.
"I think we were hiding from that a little bit and making it too easy," Pritchard says of previous albums. "Now I feel like we've regained our swagger by letting things happen and not making everything too perfect."
